TE CONNECTIVITY

TE CONNECTIVITY Oostkamp was founded in 1961 as a foreign production site of the German Siemens group. Originally started with a wide range of manual activities, over the past 5 decades, the company has evolved to exclusively automated processes. In 1999, thanks to the acquisition by Tyco International, the knowledge with regard to products and processes for the communications markets, as well as for the rapidly increasing automotive applications, that was gathered over nearly 40 years could be passed on to a new global business. In 2002, and due the telecom bubble just before, the strategic direction for Oostkamp switched drastically from components for Telecommunications to components for Automotive applications. Typical exemples are airbag plugs, ABS modules, engine plugs, etc, .  In 2007, Tyco international splitted into 3 completely independent companies: Tyco Electronics, Tyco International and Covidien, where Oostamp became part of  Tyco Electronics.  Since March 10th, Tyco Electronics became TE Connectivity.
