Leading oceangoing seaports
West Flanders has two coastal seaports, namely Zeebrugge and Ostend. Both have great nautical access and are well connected with their hinterland in Belgium and Europe. The direct and indirect impact of the West Flemish seaports is huge.
Zeebrugge and Oostende create an added value of more than € 2.2 billion, some 28,000 jobs (in FTE) and some € 396.3 million in investments. It is clear that that both seaports are spearheads of the West Flemish economy.
